A fine 8 seater beautifully designed by Richard Lowe and engineered by Savanna Wood. Resting on four massive turned pillars, this is a very impressive piece that allows for convivial banter or serious business discussions! The cleverly designed cross braces leave plenty of leg room to sit back with a fine glass of wine after dinner and admire the wonderful timber used to construct your very own masterpiece. The story of that timber begins over a hundred years ago, when railroads were built into Central Africa to open up the region to trade and administration. The sleepers or ties used to build these railways were harvested from a locally available resource, African Hardwoods. This timber, and in particular Zambezi Teak, is incredibly hard and durable and thus perfectly suited to the requirements of the Railroad Engineers. So hard that it is impervious to physical or biological attack, these magnificent timbers did not require any treatment to preserve them, and their beautiful, rich close grain polishes up to lustrous finish unmatched by any other timber in the world. This timber has been seasoned by the elements over the decades to the consistency of steel, making it extremely difficult to work with, but virtually indestructible. Its most attractive features however, are the lustrous colour and the rich, close grain that give each piece an opulence and finish carefully emphasized by the painstaking attention with which it is handmade. When you see the material we start with, you will be amazed at how such a tough, cracked and wasted slab of timber can be turned into such a magnificent product!
