Every now and again we come across a truly remarkable and unique source of reclaimed timber in our travels around
Central Africa
. The original
Ngwezi
Bridge
is one such source. When we managed to acquire these highly valuable beams, we commissioned renowned Danish architect and furniture designer, Troels Ritzau, to design a table specifically for a Limited Edition to be made from these wonderful timbers.

Elegantly sociable, the round Matetsi table is a fine place to while away an evening with good friends and a bottle of Cape wine. Even the beautifully grained table top made of the worlds hardest timbers becomes a conversation piece. The table has a central turned pillar allowing unhindered leg room. Should you require a slimmer version, we will happily oblige with a more slender 30 millimetre (inch and a quarter) top and scaled down central pillar. |

Designed by Danish designer, Troels Ritzau, the table is a spectacular modern design of sweeping curves framed in Zambezi teak with beautiful inlays of mukwa (kiaat) or mahogany. Possibly its most practical feature is the fact that it is a modular design comprising two components, one square and one half moon. The square components can be connected to give a table of any multiple length of a single component. These can be finished off with half moon sections on either end to provide a spectacular boardroom or dining table. Alternatively the half moon ends may form a beautiful round table or be used as a singular half moon. The combinations are endless! |
